The Global Future of E-Learning

E-Learning, or instruction conducted virtually via the Internet, has become increasingly popular for company training, students on the go, professional development, and for those who learn better when they can set their own pace.

Online courses need not be limited by language. Educators, lecturers, and companies can expand their reach with the right combination of translation tools. Video scripts, course materials, and tests are easy to translate with drag-and-drop tools like Transfluent’s human-powered Translate Now widget.

Remember, we don’t use machine translation. Our translations are done by people trained to localize your content, capturing not just words, but intent.

Localization is not the only requirement for a well translated online course.  There are cultural sensitivity and context issues to be considered. A video that works in the United States may be unacceptable in a location with different ideas about appropriate dress. A test question that will make perfect sense to someone familiar with American football may not be decipherable to a non-US audience.  You also need to ensure that units of measure are correct for the audience (e.g. Fahrenheit vs Celcius, miles vs kilometers etc.)

Finally, what about correcting and scoring essays, answering questions, and other communication between students and instructors?  Unless the course is completely automated, which some are, there will be a certain level of interaction between teachers and learners.  With our helpdesk software integration, we can easily facilitate communication in both directions.

Transfluent can provide assistance with all areas – course translation, localization, cultural adaptation, and interactive components.  Don’t let language be a barrier to learning, contact us to find out how we can help!
